This is the story of how the deep friendship between Argaw Oremo from Homacho, Ethiopia, and Don Koppes from Dubuque, Iowa, blossomed into an extraordinarily successful philanthropic effort that benefits the village of Homacho! Without Argaw and Don’s tremendous relationship, Friends of Homacho would not exist!

Doug Bausch, Don Koppes and Dave Palmer developed this book to capture the history of the Friends of Homacho organization, from its beginning in 2011 up to early 2025. In addition, they used their collective experiences in Ethiopia to provide first-hand insights into what life is like for the people living in and around Homacho, Ethiopia.
