Dr. Jeffrey Vance’s career began as a certified teacher here in Connecticut. For several years, he taught in local public-school systems and as an adjunct professor at Housatonic Community College. Dr. Vance joined the U.B. faculty in 2015 in the School of Arts and Humanities as an adjunct professor of writing and literature. In the winter of 2018, he completed his doctoral studies at U.B. with a specialization in international education and began teaching classes in the School of Education. In the spring of 2021, Dr. Vance was named Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Member for the School of Education. In that same year, he accepted a full-time faculty position. Dr. Vance served as Director for various programs in both teacher certification and educational leadership in the School of Education. Most recently, he was appointed Interim Director of the University of Bridgeport’s School of Education in August 2025 for the 2025–2026 academic year. Previous teaching experience includes Curriculum ­ Theory, Ethics, Introduction to International Education, Comparative International Education, and a range of research courses. In addition, Dr. Vance currently serves as chairperson or reader on several doctoral dissertation committees. His research agenda includes further opportunities to examine various aspects of international education. His research was accepted for presentation at the NERA conferences. In addition, he was selected as a proposal reviewer for select NERA conferences. More recently, Dr. Vance published two journal articles alongside colleagues Dr. John Chick and Dr. Laura Morello. He, along with Dr. Chick, was the recipient of the 2025 Imogene Okes Award for Outstanding Research from the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education.
