Andrew Meyer

Andrew Meyer is a distinguished film producer, record executive, and raconteur who reflects on his extraordinary journey through the entertainment industry and his extensive travels around the globe. With a career spanning several decades, he shares captivating stories about working with legendary musicians, producing critically acclaimed films, and immersing himself in diverse cultures.

Mr. Meyer began his journey during his college years, where he produced concerts featuring some of the most influential artists of the time, including The Grateful Dead, The Band, Miles Davis, and Sly and the Family Stone. His passion for music led him to A&M Records in the early 1970s, where he worked with notable artists like George Harrison, Peter Frampton, Cat Stevens, Cheech and Chong, and Carole King.

In the early 1980s, Mr. Meyer transitioned to film by founding A&M Films. He produced several significant films, including The Breakfast Club, Fried Green Tomatoes, Better Off Dead, and Bring on the Night, which starred Sting and won a Grammy Award.

His company produced Birdy, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Mr. Meyer is a Professor Emeritus at the Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently the Artist in Residence at the Idyllwild Arts Academy
in Southern California.
